Membership of CKI

CKI (Customs Knowledge Institute) is a trading name of Customs Knowledge International CLG, which is a company managed by its directors.  Members of CKI are not responsible for the actions or liabilities of Customs Knowledge International CLG.

CKI is an association governed by its own rules, decided on by its members.

The objects of CKI are

  • to support its members in the advancement of their professional careers; and
  • to advance the objects of Customs Knowledge international CLG, to educate, and to promote liaison and collaboration between professionals and organisations for the general purpose of developing knowledge in the law and practices affecting international trade, including customs, taxes, regulations governing the movement of goods, transport, terms of trade and international contracts.

Members should be able to contribute to the discussions on the Members’ Forum, and for that reason should have an active involvement in some aspect of customs and/or international trade. Any person who operates in the Customs environment in any capacity is eligible for membership of the Community.

Members of CKI must be paid-up under one of the membership schemes available – individual, corporate, or as a nominee of a corporate member.

Overall management of CKI membership will be by the directors of Customs Knowledge International CLG.  Membership may be suspended or terminated in the event of non-payment of membership fees, losing the sponsorship of a corporate member, for serious breach of these rules, or for behaviour deemed to be damaging to the reputation or business of CKI or Customs Knowledge International CLG.

Members whose membership is suspended or terminated may appeal that decision in writing, and the appeal will be considered by the directors of Customs Knowledge International CLG.

Members will have free access to meetings, webinars and discussions hosted by the Community and to all material hosted on the CKI website.

Members will have preferential (discounted) access to CKI training.

Conduct of Members

Members are required at all times to treat fellow members with respect,

Members are required to respect the intellectual property rights of fellow members, and to obtain permission before using other members’ material in their own work.

Members are expected to actively participate in the work of CKI and to make themselves available, within reason, for CKI activities.

Members are expected to observe the “Chatham House Rule” for CKI internal meetings and discussions and in particular not to share with any third party a view expressed, or statement made by a member.

Members are expected to adhere to the principles of CKI in their work and in particular not to use the logo or name of CKI in work that has content which is illegal or potentially discriminatory or defamatory.
